Gunman tries to rob victim in Roosevelt driveway
A man exiting his car in the driveway of his home in Roosevelt Tuesday night was fortunate to emerge unscathed after an armed man attempted to rob him - then shot at him once as the victim ran off.
Nassau County police said the attempted robbery occurred outside a home on Beechwood Avenue at 11:16 p.m. and said the intended robbery victim was uninjured.
Police said the incident occurred as the man got out of his car. It was then the armed robber ordered the victim from the car, police said, and attempted to rob him. But the man ran off and the gunman fired at him once, police said.
Police said they are searching for the gunman, who was described as being just 5 feet tall with a thin build and wearing a black baseball cap, blue bandanna, black jacket, blue jeans and a black backpack. Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
