Gunmen rob McDonald's restaurant in Uniondale

Armed with a shotgun and a handgun, four men held up a McDonald's in Uniondale early Thursday, forcing two female employees to the office where the men robbed a safe of $2,000.

No one was hurt and no customers were inside the Front Street restaurant at the time.

Three of the men entered the McDonald's at 6:38 a.m. as two women, 24 and 21, were working and the manager, a man, 26, was in the back office.

Showing their weapons, the three forced the women back to the office, where they forced the manager to open the safe.

Then they let a fourth man, carrying a backpack, in through the back door. They put the money into the backpack, went out the door and drove off in a gray Nissan Altima that was later found on Chester Street in Uniondale.

Workers could not be reached for comment at the restaurant, where the phone rang unanswered last night.
