Hempstead Girl Scout troops host community Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday
Girl Scout Troop 300 in Hempstead, with about 10 girls from 7 to 18-years-old, will hold a Thanksgiving lunch Saturday.
The event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at the St. George's Episcopal Church, at 319 Front St.
There will be turkey and all kinds of food, said Linda Burgess, a troop leader and church member.
Meals will be served inside at the church hall.
"This is one way to reach out into the community," said Burgess. "We want to show that children are doing something good in the community."
She said the church has a food pantry, and more than 100 people are expected to be served tomorrow.
