Hempstead man, 52, fatally hit while riding bike, police say
A 52-year-old bicyclist was fatally struck by a car as he attempted to cross a busy street Monday evening in Hempstead, Nassau County police said.
Kenneth Pierce, of Hempstead, died at the scene, police said. Police said the driver, a 27-year-old man, was not injured and was not charged in the crash.
The crash occurred on Baldwin Road at Windsor Parkway at about 8:50 p.m.
Police said Pierce, riding his bicycle westbound on Windsor, was crossing Baldwin Road when he was hit by the northbound 2011 BMW, and suffered fatal injuries.
The investigation into the accident is continuing, police said.
