A Hempstead man was arrested Saturday night after police said he stabbed his friend with a broken beer bottle "for reasons unknown."

The incident occurred on South Franklin Street at 5:10 p.m. The unidentified victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for cuts to his stomach and arm and released.

No one else was injured.

Hempstead police arrested Angel Perez, 26, of Miller Place, Hempstead, a short time after the stabbing on Elizabeth Avenue and Monroe Place.

He was charged with second-degree assault and was arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead. Arraignment details were not immediately available.
