Hempstead man faces rape, robbery charges
A Hempstead man was arrested Tuesday, charged with the armed robbery and gunpoint-rape of a 19-year-old woman last month in Hicksville, Nassau County police said.
Robbery Squad, Special Victims Squad and Narcotics / -Vice Squad detectives arrested Anthony Leazer, 28, of 47 Carolina Ave., on School Street in Westbury, charging him with first-degree robbery, first-degree rape, first-degree criminal sexual act and first-degree criminal use of a firearm.
Police said the Leazer, armed with a handgun, robbed and sexually assaulted the woman at about 11:30 p.m. May 11 at a Days Inn on South Oyster Bay Road in Hicksville.
It was not immediately clear what led police to Leazer.
Leazer is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
