Hempstead Town is offering free fingerprinting and photographs in January at several locations for the Child Safety Identification Program.
More than 80,000 children have had safety kits made. The kits contain “potential lifesaving information to be used in the event of an emergency,” such as medical data and dental records, according to the town’s website.
To avoid privacy concerns, the town does not keep the child’s records, the website said. The town clerk’s office visits locations to make the kits, but the service is also available at Town Hall, 1 Washington St. in Hempstead.
In January, the office will visit the following locations:
- Jan. 7, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Merrick Golf Course Clubhouse, 2550 Clubhouse Rd.;
- Jan. 8, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Valley Stream Community Center, 123 W. Merrick Rd., Valley Stream;
- Jan. 14, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Levittown Hall, 201 Levittown Pkwy., Hicksville;
- Jan. 21, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Averill Park, 145 Averill Blvd., Elmont;
- Jan. 22, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Hewlett Point Park, 130 Hewlett Point Ave., Bay Park;
- Jan. 28, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Coes Neck Park, 1240 Coes Neck Rd., Baldwin
