The Hempstead Town Board voted 6-0 Tuesday to settle a personal injury lawsuit — filed by a mother on behalf of her child — for $24,000, town documents show.

Nickolas Bartlett, who was 5 at the time, was injured while “using playground equipment” at the town-owned Edward J. Speno Memorial Park in East Meadow in 2012, according to court documents.

His mother, Maryann Bartlett, filed a claim in Nassau County Supreme Court against the town.

The town’s trial counsel, the Claims Service Bureau of New York Inc., the town’s claims representatives and town attorney recommended settling the case “as being in the best interest in the Town of Hempstead,” the documents said.

The $24,000 settlement will be paid out of the Parks Operating Fund Tort Liability Account, according to the documents.

Councilman Edward Ambrosino was not present at the meeting following his arrest last week on charges of income tax evasion and wire fraud for failing to pay more than $250,000 in federal income taxes.
