A 38-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Hempstead late Saturday night and remains hospitalized in critical condition, Nassau County Police said.

The unidentified man was hit about 11:18 p.m. Saturday while crossing Jerusalem Avenue by a 2004 GMC driven by a 52-year-old woman, police said. The GMC was traveling westbound in the left lane of Jerusalem near Catherine Street, police said.

No charges have been filed and police said there was "no apparent criminality" in connection with the crash. Police did not identify the driver.
