Two men shot and wounded in Hempstead, police say
Hempstead Village police said two men remained hospitalized in stable condition Sunday after both were shot and wounded late Saturday night.
Lt. Richard Holland said investigators were searching for a suspect or suspects in the shooting, which occurred about 11 p.m. Saturday near Albemarle Avenue and Henry Street in Hempstead.
Holland said the identities of the victims, 25 and 19, were not yet being released. The victims are from Hempstead, Holland said.
One victim sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and the other was grazed by a bullet, Holland said. Both were taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where they were reported to be in stable condition.
Holland said police planned to "re-interview the victims" to determine whether the incident was gang-related.
No further details were immediately available.
