The Town of Hempstead will permit the online filing of public records requests beginning this week, according to a news release.
An online form on the town’s website is to be activated by the end of the week, the release stated. Previously, records requests had to be made via mail or email.
The release said that Hempstead is the first town in Nassau County to allow for online Freedom of Information Law requests.
“Once all the proper information is provided, the person can hit submit at the bottom of the page and the form will be directly transmitted to the proper person to handle the request,” the release stated.
The move is an attempt to make Hempstead Town more accessible and transparent, according to the release.
For more information on this, contact Town Hall at 516-489-6000 or visit the town’s website at toh.li.
