With 90-degree temperatures expected Wednesday and Thursday, the Town of Hempstead is opening 15 cooling centers and extending hours at six swimming pools for those days, according to a news release.

The warmer temperatures pose "significant health risks for residents who do not have air conditioning or a cool place to stay," said Kate Murray, supervisor, in the release.

Salisbury Senior Center, 460 Salisbury Park Drive, Westbury, (516) 333-5440
