Hempstead Tpke. reopens after pedestrian hit

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nassau police said, resulting in the temporary closing of Hempstead Turnpike to traffic in the vicinity of the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.
No information was immediately available from police concerning the pedestrian's condition or identity. Police announced the turnpike was reopened at 7:40 p.m.
