Vehicle crashes into bus stop waiting area, two hurt in Levittown, Nassau police say
Two women were injured Wednesday in Levittown after the driver of a pickup truck lost control and crashed into a bus stop waiting area on the Hempstead Turnpike, Nassau County police said.
Shortly before noon, a 46-year-old man driving a 2005 Ford pickup was exiting the Tri-County Bazaar parking lot on the westbound turnpike when he left the roadway and struck a bus stop enclosure, authorities said.
Two women were sitting in the enclosure — one 45, and the other 18, according to detectives from the Eighth Squad.
Both women suffered multiple trauma injuries and were taken by Nassau ambulances to a hospital for treatment, police said. Both are listed in critical but stable condition.
The driver remained at scene and the investigation is ongoing, according to police.
