A Village of Hempstead sanitation truck collided with a van, then crashed into a county-owned building in East Garden City early Wednesday, injuring one person, police said.
Nassau County police said the crash, which occurred near the intersection of Oak Street and Commercial Avenue, occurred at 9:38 a.m. The driver of the van was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said there was no criminality suspected.
Photos from the scene showed the sanitation truck with its right side embedded into the building and portions of the building facade on the truck's cab.
It was not immediately clear what kind of building was struck, but police said it was owned by Nassau County.
