A Hempstead woman was arrested upstate Tuesday on charges of using a stolen credit card to purchase $4,000 worth of gift cards from a big-box store, State Police said.

Jamese L. Williams, 28, was charged with third-degree grand larceny after her arrest at the BJ's Wholesale Club on Route 9 in Wappingers Falls, police said. The town is in Dutchess County, about 80 miles north of Nassau County.

Police did not say what kind of gift cards were purchased with the stolen credit card.

Police said Williams was arraigned in the Town of Wappinger Court and was remanded to Dutchess County jail in lieu of $10,000 bond or $5,000 cash bail. She is due back in court on Friday.
