A Hicksville man faces charges of drunken driving and leaving the scene after a hit-and-run accident Sunday in Seaford, Nassau County police said.

Police said Alexander Doroshenko, 52, of 2 Rover Lane, was driving a 2010 Toyota Camry south on Newbridge Road in Bellmore in an "erratic manner" at 9:35 p.m. When officers tried to stop him, however, Doroshenko hit a 2007 Nissan at Linden Street and continued south without stopping, according to a police report.

The driver of the Nissan refused medical attention at the scene, police said, and Doroshenko's car was found a short time later behind a building at 3914 Merrick Rd. in Seaford.

Doroshenko was arrested and is charged with reckless endangerment, assault, unlawful fleeing of a police officer, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, driving while intoxicated and several traffic violations, police said.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
