A 24-year-old Hicksville man died after being struck by a car Monday evening as he attempted to cross Stewart Avenue in East Garden City, police said.

Justin Pistoia was taken to a hospital with internal injuries and died about three hours after being struck, Nassau County police said.

Police said the accident occurred on Stewart Avenue near the intersection of Endo Boulevard at 7:48 p.m., when Pistoia was hit by a 2012 Ford sedan driven by a 67-year-old woman. She was uninjured.

The Highway Bureau conducted a brake and safety inspection of the vehicle.

The driver was not charged, police said.
