Police: Hicksville pedestrian seriously injured after being struck by vehicle

A pedestrian in Hicksville was seriously injured Friday morning after he was struck by a vehicle, Nassau County police said.

The 79-year-old victim was walking north to south on Cherry Lane East about 8:20 a.m. when he was hit by a 2014 Jeep driven by a 49-year-old woman traveling west on that road, police said.

The man received numerous injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, according to police.

The Jeep was subjected to a brake and safety check. Police said they did not suspect criminality.
