Blood on a basement floor at a burglary scene in March led to a DNA match and the arrest of a 16-year-old from Hicksville on Monday, police said.
Kevin Ortez, of 2 Pen Lane, was charged with second-degree burglary and unlawful possession of marijuana after his arrest at home at 7:10 p.m., Nassau County police said.
Police said Ortez faces arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
The burglary occurred March 11 at a home on Princess Street in Hicksville, police said. Police said a blood sample was secured from the basement floor of the home by detectives from the Crime Scene Search Unit -- and said a positive match from the sample to Ortez was made April 29.
