Hofstra University student found dead, cops say

The death of a Hofstra University student found unresponsive in a dorm room Friday morning is under investigation, Nassau police said.

Conor Wynne, 20, of Trumbull, Conn., was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:50 a.m., police said.

Criminality is not suspected, police said.

Third Precinct officers responding to a 911 call about an unresponsive student found Wynne, whose cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner's office, police said.

Police and university officials declined to release other details.

Hofstra University officials sent the campus community news of the death of Wynne, a freshman, and voiced condolences to his family.

"The entire Hofstra community is saddened by the loss of Conor Wynne, a first-year student from Connecticut, who was majoring in marketing," the bulletin said. "As a community, we mourn for Conor and extend our thoughts and prayers to his friends and family during this difficult time."
