A South Farmingdale man has been arrested on charges of petty larceny after a home video surveillance system allegedly captured him rifling through a Massapequa homeowner's car, stealing $5 worth of change, detectives from Nassau County's Seventh Squad said.

Adam Halpern, 47, of 104 Glenn Ct., was arrested at his home Tuesday at 11:35 a.m., police said.

On Sept. 4, shortly after 1 a.m., Halpern entered an unlocked 2010 Toyota parked in the driveway on Rose Street and removed the change from the center console, police said.

An officer for the Nassau County police's K-9 unit recognized Halpern from the video, according to a release. The video had been posted on YouTube.

Halpern was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
