Hopefuls Mangano, Suozzi to debate Oct. 29
Nassau Executive Edward Mangano and challenger Thomas Suozzi have agreed to face off in their first debate Oct. 29, said Kevin Law, president of the Long Island Association. Later that day, they debate again at News 12 Long Island's TV studios.
The LIA is co-sponsoring the first event with the Long Island Builders Institute, at the Crest Hollow Country Club at 8:30 a.m. The LIA has sponsored county executive debates since 1987, when former Acting County Executive Michael LoGrande and then-Assemb. Patrick Halpin faced off.
Both Suozzi, a Democrat and former county executive, and Mangano, a Republican, are to appear Sept. 25 at a Garden City Chamber of Commerce luncheon, but not in a debate format.
