Man arrested in DWI crash in Woodbury that hurt girl, cops say
A 59-year-old Huntington man has been arrested, charged with vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated after a head-on crash that left a 10-year-old girl critically injured Tuesday night in Woodbury, Nassau County police said.
The girl, whose identity was not released, suffered a head injury in the crash and was taken to a hospital. Police said her mother, 43, sustained minor injuries.
The crash occurred on two-lane Woodbury Road near Winthrop Drive at 9:38 p.m. Police said Eugene Golden, of Timberline Drive, was driving a Mercedes-Benz sport utility vehicle northbound when he collided with a southbound Nissan, injuring the girl and her mother. Golden also sustained minor injuries, police said.
Golden was arraigned at the hospital Wednesday. A judge set bail at $10,000 bond or $5,000 cash. He was represented by Legal Aid, which does not comment on cases.
