Ice cream parlor fire extinguished
Firefighters responding to a call at a Friendly's ice cream parlor on Sunrise Highway in Massapequa Park Friday extinguished a small roof fire, officials told Newsday.
No one was injured.
Officials said a call reporting the fire was received at about 1:20 p.m. Volunteers from Massapequa, Seaford and Wantagh responded.
Officials said workers had been making repairs to the roof of the ice cream parlor when the fire began. It was not immediately clear what started that fire, but indications are it might be related to equipment used to heat and prepare roof tar.
