In Farmingdale, robber runs (away) on Dunkin'
A man who sought to rob a Dunkin' Donuts in Farmingdale got himself into hot water when he tried to break in through the kitchen, police said Tuesday.
The incident happened at the Dunkin' Donuts on Fulton Street at 11:40 p.m.
Police said a man dressed in black carrying a handgun entered the shop through a service door.
He found himself in the kitchen, where a quick-thinking employee sprayed him with hot water.
The would-be robber got away without stealing a thing, police said.
The employee, who was working an overnight shift, was not named and could not immediately be contacted Wednesday. Assistant manager Hammad Nawaz said he had not spoken to the employee Wednesday morning.
