Nassau County police are looking for a man who attempted to sexually assault a woman early Wednesday in Westbury.
The Special Victims Squad said a woman, 22, was walking on Post Avenue near Maple Avenue at about 12:40 a.m. when she was approached by an unknown man who grabbed her from behind, causing her to fall to the ground.
The man "attempted to sexually assault her," and an unidentified male witness intervened, causing the subject to run east on Maple Avenue.
The woman had a minor laceration to her ear and refused medical attention at the scene, police said.
The suspect is described as having a medium build, between 40 and 50 years old, wearing jeans, brown boots and a black, hooded jacket.
Anyone with information on the assault can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
