Inwood woman charged in robbery attempt
An Inwood woman was arrested late Sunday and charged in the attempted robbery of a North Long Beach convenience store, Nassau police said.
Karen Mari, 29, pretended to have a gun when she demanded cash from the clerk about 10:54 p.m. at the Quick Pick Convenience Store, 4495 Austin Blvd., Nassau County Police said.
The clerk reacted by trying to grab the suspect, and the pair struggled before Mari fled in a four-door Buick sedan, heading east on Vanderbilt Avenue, police said. The suspect was stopped and arrested nearby, police said.
Mari pleaded not guilty at her arraignment Monday morning in First District Court, Hempstead, and was being held on $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 21.
