Nassau County police found two illegal handguns when they went to an Island Park house early Friday to check on the condition of an occupant, Fourth Squad detectives said.

Sanford Wallach, 60, of Ohio Place, was arrested without incident on two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon, police said.

Police went to the home at about 1:19 a.m., based on a request to check on the condition of a person who lives there, a department spokeswoman said. She had no other details.

Officers entered the home and saw the two illegal handguns, according to a news release. Wallach also had five rifles, all legal, police said.

Wallach's bail was set at $250 cash during arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead. With Ellen Yan
