Police: Hempstead man faces attempted murder charge in August shooting

A Hempstead man was arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with a shots-fired incident in Roosevelt in August.
Nassau County police said that just after midnight on Aug. 29, Jason Ambrose, 22, of 111 Wellington St., fired a handgun at a 19-year-old near the intersection of Grenada Avenue and Nassau Road.
Police said Ambrose had "prior disputes" with the teen, identified only as "a Roosevelt man." The bullet missed the intended target, police said, but it struck an occupied home on Nassau Road.
No one was injured.
Police said an investigation led them to Ambrose, who was arrested Wednesday.
He was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree attempted assault, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, second-degree criminal use of a firearm and first-degree reckless endangerment. He faces arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.
