Two firefighters suffered minor injuries Monday afternoon while battling a Jericho house fire, Nassau fire officials said.

The Jericho Fire Department responded about 1:08 p.m. to a fire at a two-story home on Maytime Drive near Merry Lane, said Nassau County Deputy Fire Coordinator Nicholas Corrado in a news release.

The fire was under control after an hour and 15 minutes, according to Corrado. About 85 firefighters responded to the scene, including from departments in Bethpage, Carle Place, East Norwich, Farmingdale, Glenwood, Hicksville, Locust Valley, Plainview, Syosset and Westbury.

Two firefighters "suffered minor injuries while battling the fire and were treated at the scene," Corrado said. The release did not state to which department the volunteers belong. Corrado could not be immediately reached Monday afternoon.

A Newsday photo from the scene showed a pickup truck in flames in the driveway of the home, which was also on fire.

The Town of Oyster Bay building department declared the home uninhabitable but it can be repaired, town spokesperson Brian Nevin told Newsday. Building inspectors said the fire appeared to originate in the garage and only "impacted part of the house," Nevin said. The structure will be boarded and fenced.

The family residing in the home declined housing assistance from the American Red Cross and will stay with relatives, Nevin said.

The Syosset Fire Department and the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s Office used drones to aid firefighting efforts, according to the fire marshal release.

Investigators with the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office and Nassau County Police Department Arson/Bomb Squad detectives are investigating the cause of the fire, Corrado said.
