Jumper at concert released from hospital

The man who police say intentionally jumped from a balcony at the Jones Beach amphitheater during last week's Phish concert has been released from the hospital, a spokeswoman for Nassau University Medical Center said Saturday.
The man, who has not been publicly identified, was discharged Friday morning, hospital spokeswoman Shelley Lotenberg said.
According to police, the 30-year-old jumper was seriously injured on Wednesday night when he hurtled over a railing at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater, landing about 30 feet below in another seating area. The person on whom the man fell, who also wasn't identified, sustained minor injuries.
The jumper, who hospital officials said is from Maine, had been flown from the Wantagh venue to the hospital by helicopter in critical condition and put in intensive care, but stabilized during his stay.
"I couldn't believe it when I saw it," State Park Police Sgt. Anthony Astacio, told Newsday last week. "He's very lucky."
The landed-on concertgoer was treated at the scene and remained at the concert for the rest of the sold-out show, police said.
Phish, founded in 1983 in Vermont, plays rock and other genres.
