Kenneth Minor's expected plea in stabbing death delayed

An expected manslaughter guilty plea from Kenneth Minor, who was hired by motivational speaker Jeffrey Locker of Woodmere to aid in a suicide motivated by life insurance for Locker's family, was postponed Monday until Sept. 29.
Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Laura Ward said she wanted more legal briefing before issuing a final ruling on legal issues in the case. Minor has agreed to plead guilty to first-degree manslaughter and serve 12 years in prison if Ward rules against him, his lawyer says.
Minor, an ex-con from Harlem, was convicted of murder in 2011 and sentenced to 20 years in prison for the 2009 stabbing death of Locker, who had $18 million in life insurance.
But the conviction was overturned in 2013 because of incorrect jury instructions on assisting a suicide, which is second-degree manslaughter and a defense for murder in New York.
