Nassau police helped rescue a kite boarder who had become stranded after riding across the water at Tobay Beach Tuesday evening, police said.

Marine bureau officers searched for the rider after his girlfriend reported he had been missing for about two hours, prompting Town of Oyster Bay public safety officers to contact marine bureau officers.

Shortly before 7 p.m., police said, the public safety officers spotted the kite boarder on an isolated marsh area that they said was not accessible by land.

Marine bureau officers responded by boat to the area and brought the kite boarder to the Tobay Beach boat basin, police said. No injuries were reported.
