East Hills landscaper dies after falling from work truck, police say

A landscaper fell off a work truck Thursday in East Hills and died of his injuries, the Nassau County Police Department said.

About 2:12 p.m., officers responded to a call regarding a man in the roadway near Planting Field Road and Old Farm Road, the police department said in a news release.

Homicide Squad detectives identified the man as Jose Hernandez Argueta, 35, of Mineola, and determined he was a landscaper who suffered injuries after he fell off the vehicle, the release said. Argueta was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police department did not specify whether the truck was moving or the nature of Argueta’s injuries. An investigation into his death is ongoing.
