The owner of a Hempstead landscaping company, who badly cut his arm with a chain saw and then fell out of a tree Monday afternoon, was in serious but stable condition last night at South Nassau Communities Hospital, Nassau police said.

Frank Villegas, 63, of Hempstead, owner of F & D Linden Construction Co., was working at 257 Foxhurst Rd. in Oceanside when the chain saw he was using bounced off a limb and cut his arm at 3:45 p.m., police said. Villegas lost his footing and fell six to eight feet to the ground, police said.

He was taken to the Oceanside hospital by a Nassau police ambulance.
