Roosevelt man charged with crack-dealing

A Roosevelt man driving on a suspended license late Tuesday allegedly sold crack from his car to another man, Nassau County police said.

Laquan Smith, 37, of 112 Mirin Ave., faces drug charges after his arrest in Roosevelt at 10:05 p.m., police said.

It marked the third time since June 25 that Smith sold crack "to another for an agreed upon amount of money," according to detectives from the Narcotics-Vice Squad.

Smith sold crack in a Uniondale parking lot on June 25 and also is being charged in a drug sale from the same lot on June 16, police said.

On Tuesday, Bureau of Special Operations officers saw Smith driving a 2007 Lexus near Lakewood Drive and Anna Avenue in Roosevelt, with a passenger, Nadine Blair, 34.

After stopping the vehicle, officers found that Smith had a suspended license and crack in the car, police said

Smith is charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance; three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle; operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver; and failing to signal for a turn.

Blair, also of 112 Mirin Ave., is charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Both were arraigned Wednesday and held pending a bail of $20,000 for Smith and $25,000 bond or $10,000 cash for Blair.
