A Garden City woman was released on her own recognizance Sunday after being charged with aggravated drunken driving Saturday after colliding with another vehicle while she had her 7-year-old daughter in her car.

Laura Catell, 42, of 45 Chestnut St., was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated (Leandra's Law) and endangering the welfare of a minor. She was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead and was scheduled for a May 8 hearing.

According to Garden City police, about 2:30 p.m. Catell was driving east on Sixth Street when she crashed into another vehicle near Cathedral Avenue.

Catell's daughter was in the car at the time. After an investigation she was arrested and the child was picked up by a family member, police said. No injuries were reported.
