Suffolk County police are investigating the death of a Queens man who fell off a commercial building in Farmingdale on Saturday morning.

Police said that Lech Chrostowski, 57, was working on the roof at 465 Smith St. at 11:45 a.m. when he fell about 20 feet. Responders took Chrostowski to St. Joseph's Hospital in Bethpage where he was pronounced dead.

At the scene Saturday evening, police loaded a piece of green equipment that resembled a lawn mower and a breathing mask from the parking lot of the single-story building onto a truck. Property records show the building is owned by Travel Impressions LTD, which also appears to operate out of the building.

The man's death is not believed to be criminal, police said, but the Nassau County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy to determine whether he died from the fall or before he fell.

Police said they notified the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
