Levittown bank robbery suspect charged
A 44-year-old Lindenhurst man was arrested Monday night, charged with an August bank robbery in Levittown, Nassau County police said.
John Casey, of Hampton Road, was arrested in Bohemia Monday at 7:15 p.m. and charged with third-degree robbery. Police said Casey robbed the Bethpage Federal Credit Union branch inside a King Kullen on Hempstead Turnpike on Aug. 12.
Police said Casey, whose image was captured on surveillance video, entered the bank wearing a long-sleeved faded red shirt, a blue baseball cap, camouflage shorts and white sneakers. He showed the teller a demand note, police said, then told the teller he had a gun -- though no gun was seen. After being handed cash, Casey fled, police said.
Casey is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
