Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano and Long Island's FM radio stations 102.3 WBAB and 106.1 WBLI are offering Long Island families the chance to explore, sit in and take photos with more than 40 unique trucks and vehicles usually used only by professionals and/or stunt drivers.

The “Touch-A-Truck” event May 9 — from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow — will have vehicles on-site for youngsters to sit in, climb on, and take photos with, including: big rigs, fire and rescue trucks, police vehicles, a championship racing boat, 175-foot crane truck, and a BD-5 micro single-seat home-built aircraft.

“As we all know it can get loud at this type of event,” Mangano said in a news release, “so families with special needs and sensitive ears are invited to avoid the noise by attending our 'Horn-Free Hour' from 10-11 a.m. Children can still experience all the fun of 'Touch-A-Truck,' without the loud music, horns and sirens.”

The rain date is May 10.
