A pedestrian was critically hurt Wednesday morning when she was hit by a car at a Lido Beach intersection, police said.

The unidentified woman, 59, was crossing north to south on Regent Drive at about 11 a.m. when she was struck by a 2004 Pontiac heading west on Lido Boulevard, Nassau County police said in a news release.

She was taken by Nassau County police helicopter to a nearby hospital, where she was in critical condition with head trauma, police said.

The driver, an 85-year-old woman, was not identified.

"Detectives report no criminality with the accident at this time," police said in the release. "The vehicle passed a safety inspection at scene."
