Nassau County police have reopened two westbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway after closing them for nearly 45 minutes early Thursday because of a two-vehicle accident in Roslyn Heights.
All three lanes are now open and the roadway was cleared at 9:17 a.m., according to the state website.
Only the center lane of the LIE between Exits 37 and 39, Willis Avenue to Glen Cove Road, had been open to traffic from 8:40 a.m. to 9:17 a.m., according to police and the state's Department of Transportation website, informny.com.
A police spokesman said it was not immediately clear if there were serious injuries. "It doesn't appear that way now," he said.
One vehicle had overturned in the right lane and another had struck a median between Exits 37 and 39, the spokesman said.
