A Levittown man was killed Monday when he lost control of his muscle car, crashed into a guardrail and then was struck by a truck on the Long Island Expressway in Plainview, Nassau police said.

The 7:45 a.m. crash killed Oscar Reyes-Contereras, 37, who was heading east at Exit 45, Manetto Hill Road, when he lost control of his 2007 Ford Mustang. His car then re-entered the travel lanes and was hit by a tractor-trailer rig.

Reyes-Contereras was declared dead at a hospital shortly after 8:40 a.m.

The crash delayed eastbound travel for more than three hours, according to a state transportation website.

The truck’s driver, a 45-year-old man, was not identified by police, but officials said in a news release the tractor-trailer passed a brake and safety inspection at scene. Police said no criminality was suspected.
