All lanes of the westbound Long Island Expressway in Jericho have been re-opened, Nassau County police announced just after 10 a.m. Wednesday — more than four hours after an overturned box truck made a mess of the morning commute.

Police said the truck overturned between Exit 40E and Exit 40W around 5:45 a.m. There was one minor injury reported, police said.

All westbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway were closed except the right lane as a result of the crash, police said, causing a backup covering several miles.

But the crash also impacted traffic on the eastbound LIE, caused by rubbernecking cars. The accident also caused backups on the westbound Northern State Parkway, which was snarled with traffic attempting to cross over onto the LIE east of the crash scene.

The truck was removed from the road just after 8:35 a.m.
