A vehicle accident Sunday morning temporarily closed the right and center lanes of the Long Island Expressway eastbound at Exit 46 in Plainview, Nassau police said.

Police said the crash occurred at 3:30 a.m.; the roadway has since reopened.

At the crash site, several shock-absorbing buckets of sand and some of the guardrails between the exit ramp and the road were bent and broken. A tractor-trailer and a box truck were stopped at the accident scene, and the larger truck was being towed away about 8 a.m.

Police would not release any further information about the crash, including whether anyone was injured.
