Drivers traveling on the Long Island Expressway should expect overnight lane closures starting next week, officials said.

The stretch between Exit 32, Little Neck, and Exit 37, Roslyn Heights, will be closed for preventive maintenance beginning Monday until the fall, New York State Department of Transportation officials said in a statement. The eastbound lanes will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. The westbound lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Officials said the closures were necessary to treat and seal cracks in the asphalt.

Traffic will be rerouted onto the service road while the lanes are closed. Message signs have been placed in the area to communicate closure and detour information, officials said.

Work may be “canceled, postponed or prolonged due to inclement weather,” officials said. They also remind drivers to obey work zone speed restrictions and instructions by flagging personnel.
