There's more snow to come - but it won't be as bad.

After a fierce winter storm Thursday morning that ensured a record snowfall for January, Long Island can expect minor snow flurries Friday afternoon, possibly during the rush-hour commute, and again Saturday, the National Weather Service said.

The two storms heading our way are minor, said meteorologist Tim Morrin of the Upton-based service.

"No one should be surprised to see some snowflakes flying around, but it's not going to last," he said. "Still, snow coating a cold surface can cause some slick driving conditions."

A minor storm coming out of Minnesota and crossing the Great Lakes will likely cross the area Friday afternoon and into the evening, Morrin said.

Then, another system will likely follow late Saturday.

Accumulations are predicted to be light, "no more than a dusting," Morrin said for the "moisture-starved" fronts.

But with temperatures mostly normal or slightly colder - from the midteens at night to the low to mid-30s during the day - the snow that's already here will remain on the ground.

A chance of snow will roll around Tuesday, too, which is predicted to be cloudy with a high near 30.
