Links eyed between Queens, Nassau robberies
Four recent robberies in Nassau County are being investigated for possible links to a widespread pattern of similar crimes in southeast Queens, NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly said Friday.
"We believe they have had at least four robberies in Nassau County that fit this pattern," Kelly told reporters.
Police are looking for two men seen on surveillance videos as the prime suspects. No one was hurt in the crimes, during almost all of which the suspects showed handguns, according to police. Cash and the occasional cellphone and credit cards were taken from customers and proprietors of the commercial establishments.
Officials at the Nassau County Police Department didn't respond to an email request for comment. Kelly indicated there had been some progress in the investigation.
"There have been some developments but I am not at liberty to put them out," Kelly said.
Police asked anyone with information about the robberies to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted by logging in to the website nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting to 274637 (CRIMES), and then entering TIPS577. Police said that all calls are strictly confidential.
