Nearly a thousand LIPA customers were without power Tuesday evening, the utility reported.

Town of Oyster Bay residents represented 633 of the 951 outages as of 5:30 p.m., according to the Long Island Power Authority's website.

The Oyster Bay outages were considered weather-related, a LIPA spokeswoman said.

The nearly 150 outages in Islip were due to a tree on fire, which prompted LIPA to shut down power, the spokeswoman said.
